A package price is a summary, and every summary hides something. The question is not whether a package is cheap. It is whether the quote you are holding and the quote you are comparing it against describe the same treatment.
Quick Answer
Ask for a written, itemised quote listing every treated tooth, the material and system by name, the number of visits, and a separate list of what is excluded. Packages commonly include consultation, imaging, the treatment itself, laboratory work, temporaries, hotel nights and airport transfers. They commonly exclude preparatory treatment such as extractions, root canal treatment, gum treatment or bone grafting, plus medication, flights, insurance, extra nights if the plan changes, and the second visit where treatment is staged. The excluded list is what makes final invoices differ from quotes, so ask for it in writing before you pay a deposit.
What Is Usually Included
Most Istanbul clinics that publish packages include some version of the following. Confirm each one in writing rather than assuming it:
- Initial consultation and examination on arrival.
- Imaging: panoramic X-ray and, where the case needs it, a 3D CBCT scan.
- The treatment itself, for the number of teeth stated in the quote.
- Laboratory work for crowns, veneers or prosthetics.
- Temporary restorations during the treatment period.
- Post-treatment check before departure.
- Accommodation for a stated number of nights, and airport and clinic transfers.
- Translation or a patient coordinator during appointments.
What Is Usually Not Included
This is the list that changes invoices. Ask for each of these explicitly:
- Preparatory or additional treatment found at examination: extractions, root canal treatment, gum disease treatment, bone grafting or a sinus lift.
- The second visit in staged treatment. Implant cases in particular are normally two trips months apart, and the package often prices only one.
- Flights, and extra nights if the plan lengthens.
- Medication and post-operative supplies.
- Travel and medical insurance.
- Night guards or retainers, which are frequently needed after extensive restorative or orthodontic work.
- Follow-up or revision travel if something needs adjusting after you get home.
- Long-term maintenance: hygiene appointments, replacement of restorations at the end of their service life.
None of these exclusions is dishonest in itself. What matters is whether they were disclosed before you booked, or discovered on the day.
Why a Quote Can Change After Examination
A remote quote is an estimate built from photographs and whatever you described. An examination with imaging can reveal decay under an existing restoration, a tooth that cannot be saved, insufficient bone volume for an implant, or gum disease that must be treated before restorative work begins. Any of those changes the plan.
That is normal clinical practice, provided that two things are true: the clinic told you in advance that the remote quote was provisional, and any change is presented with a diagnosis, an option to decline and a revised price before work starts. If a change is first raised while you are in the chair with a deposit paid, the clinical reasoning may still be sound, but the consent step has been compressed. It is reasonable to pause, ask to see the finding, and take time to decide.

The Itemisation to Insist On
Ask for a quote that shows:
- Each treated tooth, by number.
- The procedure per tooth, and the diagnosis behind it.
- The material and system by name, including the implant brand where relevant.
- Laboratory work, separately identified.
- Number of visits and days, and what happens at each.
- What is excluded, as its own list.
- What triggers an extra charge, and how it will be communicated to you.
- The guarantee terms in writing, covered in dental treatment guarantees.
- The deposit and refund terms.
- Total price and currency, with the rate and date if converted.
A clinic that provides this is easy to compare against another clinic that provides it. That comparability is the entire point.
Comparing Two Quotes Correctly
Line them up on the same axes. A cheaper quote is genuinely cheaper only when the number of teeth, the material, the visit count and the exclusions match. Where the price gap is large, the explanation is almost always in one of four places: fewer teeth, a different material, a missing stage, or an exclusion the other clinic listed and this one did not.
What genuinely drives price differences between countries and clinics is set out in what really drives dental treatment cost, and the specific risks of the lowest quotes in what a very low implant price hides.
Practical Notes on Travel Components
- A hotel bundled into a package has a cost, whether or not it is presented as free. Ask what the treatment costs without it.
- Extra nights are the most common unplanned expense. Book flexible where you can, and ask what happens if healing takes longer.
- If your case is staged, ask which visit the quoted price covers, and what the second visit will cost. Realistic scheduling is set out in how many days in Istanbul.
- Get the cancellation and rescheduling terms in writing before paying anything.

This article is general educational information. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace a clinical examination. The treatment you need, the number of visits and the final price can only be confirmed after an examination and imaging. Frequently Asked Questions
What is normally included in an Istanbul dental package?+
Typically the consultation and examination, imaging including a panoramic X-ray and CBCT scan where needed, the treatment for the stated number of teeth, laboratory work, temporary restorations, a check before departure, a stated number of hotel nights, airport and clinic transfers, and translation support. Confirm each item in writing rather than assuming it.
What is usually excluded from a dental package?+
Preparatory treatment found at examination such as extractions, root canal treatment, gum treatment or bone grafting; the second visit in staged cases; flights; extra nights; medication; insurance; night guards or retainers; revision travel; and long-term maintenance. Ask for the exclusions as a written list before paying a deposit.
Why did my quote change after I arrived at the clinic?+
A remote quote is an estimate from photographs. Examination with imaging can reveal decay under a restoration, a tooth that cannot be saved, insufficient bone for an implant or gum disease needing treatment first. That is normal, provided the clinic said the remote quote was provisional and any change comes with a diagnosis, a revised price and the option to decline before work starts.
How do I compare two dental quotes fairly?+
Match them on the number of teeth, the material and system by name, the number of visits, and the exclusions. Where a gap is large, the reason is almost always fewer teeth, a different material, a missing treatment stage, or an exclusion one clinic disclosed and the other did not.
Does a package that includes a hotel save money?+
Not necessarily. The accommodation has a cost whether or not it is presented as free, and bundling makes the dental component harder to compare. Ask what the treatment costs without the travel components, then compare that figure against other clinics.
